Can we all just STOP buying imports from the "People's" Republic of China?!
This ecnomic strategy is killing us. The working folks. They've just eliminated all the parking kiosks at one of L.A.'s largest indoor shopping malls and replaced all those jobs with machines!
And this is continuing to happen to basic jobs that many people need. In that same mall today I saw a young man, dressed OK, not like a street person, hair not shaggy. Clean clothes, etc.
He was walking around the food court with a drink cup, and every so often he would covertly stop at a food trash can and pull out a left-over plate of something and eat it. Or he would find another drink, full with more soda. He was having lunch! And he's probably done it a few times before. Many times before.
Let's all pull together for the folks who are losing out in this import-based economy, where we buy cheap things and work three jobs—if we're lucky. While the gap—the chasm—between rich and poor gets wider and wider until, before we know it, the few will be living in gated fortresses and the rest of us will be storming the gates with pitchforks!
Let's not let it come to that, OK?
